SpaceHopper
SpaceHopper is a game I created using Flash and Actionscript 2. I also used a small physics engine that I modified to work with what I wanted to accomplish. The game is a platformer with a top-down view. If it has loaded already, you can view it right below:
You may notice that the game is hard. It requires very good timing, and isn't something you can play by holding down the direction buttons. You have to take your time to plan a jump, and hold the direction key for just the right amount of time. Because of the difficulty, you don't get a set amount of lives for the game, you get a set amount of lives for each level. It follows the old-school games where you're meant to die at least once when you play, but the 4 lives per level help to keep the frustration down.
The levels also progress in difficulty, with moving platforms added first, then enemies, then both, and finally an enemy which chases you directly.
